The number of serious fires, domestic fires, and arson attacks in Merton has fallen according to the London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) latest statistics.
A new LFB report - “how are we making your borough safer” - suggests increased home fire safety visits by firefighters has contributed to the improved figures.
Merton’s fire crews also attended more than 600 non-fire related emergencies such as flooding and road traffic collisions in the last year.
LFB’s Borough Commander for Merton, Jane Philpott, said: “It’s encouraging that the number of fires has dropped over the past year and we will continue to work with other local organisations and partners to make the borough safer.”
