Police have abandoned their search of a West London lake after failing to find a car connected to the murder of Milly Dowler.
Divers from the Metropolitan Police's underwater search team pulled out debris from Bedfont Lake, near Heathrow Airport, finding six other dumped cars.
But none of them was the red Daewoo Nexia detectives have been looking for as part of their investigation into the murder of the 13-year-old Walton schoolgirl, who went missing in March 2002 on her way from Heathside School.
A spokesman for Surrey Police said: "Today's search has now been completed and nothing of any relevance to the investigation has been found."
They confirmed the search had come from a "specific line of inquiry that had recently emerged", reported to be a tip-off, but said they had no plans to search other nearby lakes.
