Ten bus shelters along the Number 37 route have become exhibition spaces for local artists.
The Diversion project, which runs for the first two weeks in October, showcases work created by the local branch of Action Space.
The organisation, promoting visual arts for those with learning difficulties, is working with Wandsworth Council on the project.
Organisers hope the vibrant pieces will liven up the journey between Clapham Junction and Putney Heath for commuters.
Wandsworth’s arts spokesman Paul Ellis said: "Never has the prospect of waiting for a bus been so appealing.
"The innovative project brings some exceptional work into the public realm where it can be enjoyed and appreciated by the thousands of people that pass along this route.”
