Brian Adamson sees no reason why his Corinthian Casuals side cannot maintain their early-season promise after the amateurs advanced in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night.

The 1-0 replay win at fellow Ryman Division One South side Worthing came on the back of a stirring fightback in Saturday’s original tie, where late goals from Glenn Boosey and Carlton Murray-Price salvaged a 2-2 draw.

And Adamson reckons confidence is high at King George’s Field.

He said: “The players are going to games now with the firm belief that we can get a result.

“That comes from winning games and it is something we have not been used to before.

“When you are winning games on a regular basis it builds the atmosphere in the dressing room and the players are fully confident in each other’s ability.”

Jamal Carr got the crucial replay goal in a performance that had Adamson beaming.

Casuals will now face Arlesey Town at home in the next round, and the Corinthian boss is happy to be enjoying the ride.

He added: “Saturday was a funny game as although we were 2-0 down at one time I thought we were the better side.

“So having forced a replay we went down there knowing we were fully capable of getting a result.

“To be fair I think it was our best performance of the season - we were in charge for the whole game and fully deserved to win.”

The recent success has seen a boost in attendance at home games and Adamson admits that is having an impact on matters.

He added: “The crowds are increasing and that is great.

“People look at our results and see that something is going on here and are coming to check us out.

“We are scoring goals and doing well in the league and it is up to us now to keep these new fans.”
