A second arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old man at his Walton home yesterday evening.
A murder investigation was launched after police officers attended a house in Hurtwood Road, Field Common, Walton following a call from a member of the public shortly before 9pm yesterday.
A man in his forties was found to have received fatal wounds.
A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene yesterday on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.
This afternoon Surrey detectives arrested a second person, a 49-year-old woman, on suspicion of murder, and she was taken to Woking police station for questioning.
A post-mortem examination carried out at the Royal Surrey County Hospital today has revealed that the victim died as a result of a stab wound to the chest.
Officers have recovered a knife from the home in Hurtwood Road, and further enquiries and searches are being carried out to determine whether this is linked to the death.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Raymer said: “The investigation into the murder of a man at Walton yesterday evening is progressing, and I would like to reassure local people that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this crime at this time.”
