Surrey Police have been given another 36 hours to question a 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering Walton resident Kevin Ronald Francis to death.
Mr Francis, a 49-year-old unemployed factory worker, was found stabbed to death in his home in Hurtwood Road shortly before 9pm on Tuesday, October 6.
Detectives have also released a picture of Mr Francis to help their enquiries
Police initially had 48 hours to question the suspects before either charging or releasing them.
Staines magistrates granted police permission this morning to continue questioning the suspect at Staines police station, until tomorrow afternoon when they will have to charge or release him.
A post mortem examination held yesterday revealed Mr Francis died from a stab wound to the chest.
A man was arrested on Tuesday and a 49-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday night.
Speaking about Mr Francis, a close family member said: "Kevin was a kind man who was well liked by everyone who knew him.
"He was always willing to help people and do them favours.
"The address in Hurtwood Road was his home for 11 years and he was well known in the area with many friends.
