South London Swimming Club (SLSC) has a donated a massive net to Tooting Bec Lido to help with the problem of autumn leaves.
The net, which is 32m wide by 1m deep, spans the width of the pool and will be used to trawl for leaves during the autumn months.
SLSC president, Naomi Branston, said: “Those of us who swim year round at the Lido know how difficult it is to keep the pool clear during autumn.
“The fishing net seems a good way for the Club to continue supporting the lifeguards, DC Leisure and Wandsworth Council in maintaining the Lido and its unique tradition of winter swimming.”
Europe’s largest fresh water outdoor swimming pool has been home to the SLSC since it opened in 1906.
