Unemployment in Kingston has dropped for the second month running, as the borough shows signs of bucking the London trend and escaping the recession.
One high-profile successful job applicant was Alex Kearns, 23, of Latchmere Road, who landed a job as a sales executive after unfurling a giant CV from Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth.
The number of people signing on the dole for October was 2,583, down 36 from the month before.
August’s figure of 2,658 had been the highest for 12 years.
London’s unemployment figures stayed at 4.5 per cent of the working population.
