A new TV comedy with a script edited by Ricky Gervais and filmed partly in Sutton High Street will hit TV screens this week.
Pilot comedy PhoneShop transformed the former Sussex Stationers bookshop into the set for the show, and additional filming took place in the Ivory Lounge.
It was written, produced and directed by Phil Bowker, whose credits include Sharon Horgan’s Pulling and Sean Lock’s 15 Storeys High.
The script was edited by comedian Gervais, creator and star of the Office and Extras.
The show, which was filmed in July, will air on Channel 4 this Friday, at 10.05pm as part of Channel 4’s comedy showcase.
Sutton Council previously hailed the shoot as an example of the growing success of its filming office in attracting location managers to the borough.
