A brave mother’s battle against cancer has led to national fame, after she was chosen for a poster campaign by charity Cancer Research UK.
Dawn Morgan was holding baby son Zane in her arms when doctors told her she had cancer six years ago - but her resolve to beat the disease means she has reached the five-year ‘all clear’ milestone.
The Croydon mum and son feature in the charity’s Christmas catalogue and on posters in more than 550 shops around Britain urging people to ‘Shop to Beat Cancer’.
Mrs Morgan underwent a successful mastectomy and lymph node removal operation soon after being diagnosed, and now gives up much of her time to raising awareness of breast cancer in the community.
She said: “I’m honoured they have been chosen to be among the faces of Cancer Research UK’s Christmas campaign and to help raise money for their ground-breaking work.
“There are some wonderful gift ideas, as well as Christmas cards and wrapping paper.”
Cancer Research UK spent more than £350m on research last year, with its shops forming a vital part of its fundraising efforts.
Spokeswoman Lynn Daly said: “It’s wonderful to see Dawn and Zane starring in the shop posters and on the front page of the catalogue.
“There is a fantastic range of products available this Christmas and we would encourage people to pop into the shops, browse the catalogue or go online to check them out.
“Not only will you find great value gifts to get your Christmas shopping off to a great start, but you will also be helping to save lives.”
