Corinthian Casuals recorded a marvellous victory away at high-flying Chatham Town thanks to a Gavin Cartwright goal and two stunning efforts from substitute Ali Wiltshire.
The game was subject to a pitch inspection early Saturday morning due to the heavy downpour witnessed across much of Britain, but the pitch was deemed playable with the both sides battling against gale force winds as well as one another throughout the match.
It seemed it was not only the elements that were contriving to stop the match from completion, as 15 minutes into the match, the game had to be delayed for 10 minutes as the referee was forced to leave the field due to picking up an injury.
The game eventually restarted with a volunteer taking his place on the touchline. Glenn Boosey shot wide of the keepers left hand post when played in down the Casual's left after 20 minutes. Chatham created the best opportunity of the half however, as both sides struggled in the windy conditions. Town skipper Richard Avery struck a post when the ball was played across the Casual's penalty area from the right on 28 minutes.
Three minutes after the re-restart,Jason Turley headed of the line for the visitors, but thereafter it was all one way traffic as the Surrey side adjusted better to the extreme winds.
Casual's were starting to take command of possession but it took until the 76th minute for the visitors territorial advantage to tell when Cartwright leapt highest from a Jamal Carr corner to head his side into the lead.
That lead was doubled ten minutes later when all three Casual's substitutes combined. Kane Sergeant's inch perfect cross field ball from the left, was taken down by Carlton Murray-Price and was left for Ali Wiltshire to rifle home without hesitation from just outside the box.
An almost identical goal was scored just sixty seconds later- Sergeant's cross field ball from the left found Wiltshire who from the exact same spot, struck past the diving Chatham keeper to make it 0-3.
There was time two minutes from the end for the home side to pull one goal back, but it was nowhere near enough to stop the Casual's from recording their first victory at Chatham Town since 1894.
