This was a game Met Police should have won easily with the numerous chances they created, but they failed to add to their solitary goal.
With a strong wind behind them it was Ramsgate who opened the scoring on 15 minutes. Midfielder Andy Hadden with a tremendous right footed 25 yard volley, completely out of nowhere, which soared straight into the roof of the Police net.
Jason Dolby should have increased the score line for the visitors’ but his header was just wide.
Into 1st half stoppage time and it was the turn of Police striker George Jermy to have a shot on goal.
Gary Drewett sent over a long cross. Jermy had time to control the ball but alas shot wide from only 5 yards out.
Into the second half and the Police fought back with a deserved equaliser on 53 minutes.
George Jermy crossed to Craig Brown who drove the ball in from 6 yards out.
The Police failed to capitalise on their superiority. Gary Drewett had a header which just shaved the bar.
Brown then had a fine shot cleared off the line by a defender.
Lee Backburn with an empty goal in front of him volleyed the ball well wide.
Not to be outdone Craig Wilkins had a free header 6 yards out with the entire goal to aim for and headed it wide. With 70 minutes gone Ramsgate had a rare attack into the Police half.
Striker Gary Mickelborough beat the offside trap only for a brave late tackle from Police midfielder Nicky Humphrey to clear the ball away for a corner.
Police Manager Jim Cooper finally tried a double substitution on 75 minutes but with no luck.
The Rams certainly came away happy with a draw. For the Police it was their 7th league draw so far this season. 14 valuable points dropped.
