A missing Mitcham woman was discovered in Germany this week after sparking a police search.

Janine Peters disappeared from south London on Friday afternoon.

Today she reported, safe and well, to a police station in Germany.

On Monday a police spokesman said officers were “most concerned” for the 28-year-old’s welfare.

DCI Sean Wanless of Merton Borough CID said: "Police did speak with Janine on her mobile phone but she declined to give her whereabouts and later shut her phone off.

"At 10.53pm that night she contacted police and stated she had boarded a train from Waterloo and was in Folkstone, Kent.

"We have liaised with Kent Police and provided officers with her photograph and details, though a search has as yet failed to trace Janine."

The police werre called after the Clay Avenue resident, also known as Djina Larsson, failed to turn up for a meeting with her landlord outside HSBC bank in Tooting on Friday.
