The owner of a salon that opened in Oxshott this week has been inspired to offer treatments to all his clients, in return for a donation to the Chase Hospice.
James Davis, who opened the Clay Salon and Spa in High Street on Tuesday, visited the children’s hospice in Guildford with X Factor guru Simon Cowell last week. He was so impressed with the work done there, he decided to make the pledge.
He said: “Because of friends of mine, I have become aware of what a wonderful place the hospice is and I wanted to do what I could to help them. I was really happy to do this as I know what they do for many others.”
The visit to Chase was organised by the publicist Max Clifford, a friend of Mr Davis, who in the past has taken celebrities including Mohamed Al-Fayed and Westlife to the hospice.
He said: “James is a supporter of Chase and he’s had friends whose children have been there, so I invited him down. Simon has been a regular visitor to the hospice.
“I think what James is doing is lovely and not only will it raise money, but it will also raise awareness, as James will have literature about the hospice in the salon.
“I really appreciate it and Simon said it was great because it is helping a place that is doing such a great job.”
As well as haircuts and treatments, Clay also offers its guests the chance to relax in the coffee lounge, where they are given complimentary drinks and snacks.
A spokesman for the salon said: “Guests are welcome to visit the lounge for a meeting or just to relax at any time. Be it in the salon, spa or coffee lounge the Clay team look forward to welcoming you and ensuring your visit is outstanding.”
