A four month exhibition on the borough’s community spaces opens at Elmbridge Museum next month.
Get Together: The Story of Community Spaces will be held at the museum in Church Street, Weybridge, from Saturday, January 16, to Wednesday, May 19.
It will look at where people in Elmbridge have historically gathered to have fun, worship and enjoy nature, covering the May Day dances on village greens in the 1950s to the present day.
Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and culture at Elmbridge Council, said: “What people want out of a community space may have altered over time, but the desire to get together most certainly has not.
“This exhibition presents the history of a very friendly and welcoming borough.”
