Streatham residents are invited to get into the seasonal spirit this afternoon as Santa rides into town for the switching on of the High Road’s Christmas lights.
Father Christmas will be going green for the event, arriving by bus with his fairy helpers and the Mayor of Lambeth to the Odeon Cinema - the first stop in a borough wide tour.
The lights are due to be switched on at 4.30pm, with other events organised by the Streatham Festival Association so people can make the most of the festive fun.
Highlights include free face-painting in Streatham library, music and carols from Dunraven and Sunnyhill School choirs, a guest appearance from the Ice Queen and her fiery friends, a brass band belting out music and a very special Christmas tree, made by local artist Fion Gunn.
