Paul Norris, the Banstead manager, was left reeling after another defeat left his side rooted in the bottom three of the CCL Premier League, writes Bob Lockyer.
Banstead started brightly as they have done in previous games, but instead of dominating the game they allowed Guildford City to dictate the game.
On five minutes City came close to scoring, but Bridgman didn't connect with the ball when in a good position inside the area, the A's keeper Paul Brady managed to gather the ball low down to his left.
Banstead did have a few chances in the game but they came to nothing. On one ocassion Ross White headed wide when in a good position.
Then disaster struck on thirty three minutes, against the run of play Banstead got caught on the ball, not tracking back to cover and James Brown of City took the ball on just outside the A's area hit a low stinging shot into the bottom left hand corner passed a diving Brady.
Just after the break City caused Brady to take action again. Banstead made a couple of substitutions to try and turn the game.
Debutant Paul Guy on from the fifty third minute of the game did very well in defence making a couple of important tackles. For all Banstead's efforts they were finding it hard to break City down. Banstead came close to scoring on seventy four minutes but that went wide.
Then the killer blow, a neat back heel from Carnegie to Elgar he took it on a few yards then unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top of the net.
City could have had a couple more but what they had was enough to take all three points. Team: Brady, Myers, Hawkins, Lawrence, Hughes, Ogunkoya, John, Quintin, Graham, R. White, Sinclair, subs used: Barnes, Guy. not used: Wallace, Davidson, Cupit.
