Thieves stole Christmas trees from a garden centre in Wallington and B&Q in Sutton Town Centre.
Four trees were taken from outside the garden centre on the Little Woodcote Estate, Woodmansterne Lane, between 8.30pm on Sunday December 6 and 5.30am on Monday December 7.
On Thursday, November 26, a haul of 60 Christmas trees worth £40 each were stolen from B&Q, Sutton Court Road, after being stacked outside the store entrance and taken away in a van.
A police spokesman said that the thefts demonstrated thieves will take advantage of any opportunities to steal and make money from selling stolen goods.
He said: “It’s a particularly mean crime because this is supposed to be the season of goodwill.”
Sutton’s Crime Prevention Team urged residents and businesses to be vigilant in over the Christmas holiday and to dial 999 if they see a crime being committed.
Anyone with information about the theft of the Christmas trees should contact Sutton police station on 0300 123 1212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
