Tudor residents curious about plans for a new sports and recreation centre on Latchmere Recreation Ground have been invited to a public meeting to have their say.
The Khalsa Karate Confederation is behind proposals for a two-storey building, including a cafe and two sports halls, on the site of the former nursery and pavilion, and hopes to submit a formal planning application in the new year.
Satinder Sehra, Khalsa’s chief instructor, said: “What we are trying to do is get the community involved in all kinds of sports and have meetings. I had a call from an elderly person who wanted a bridge class. He thought it was fantastic because there is no sort of activity for the elderly.”
Some residents have raised concerns about the effect on parking, and Mr Sehra said funding for the proposal had not yet been agreed.
The meeting will be held at 8pm on Friday, December 18, at Tudor Drive Hall.
