Police carried out a controlled explosion at Kingston Station last night after suspicious items were found in the waiting room.
The station was closed at 5.50pm, and trains did not stop while the Metropolitan Police explosives team investigated.
A spokesman said the items were later found to be building materials left by contractors working at the station, which station re-opened at 7pm.
