An online petition to re-open Streatham leisure centre has been launched by concerned users.
Residents set up the petition in response to concerns it may not reopen before a new centre is built as part of the delayed Streatham Hub project.
The centre closed in November last year due to health and safety fears over the decaying building, built some 80 years ago.
The petition calls on Lambeth Council to make the necessary investment to bring the building back into use now, and ensure there is adequate service provision.
Sally Coombs, who has set up the petition, said: "Residents need the leisure centre to re-open regardless of the financial cost.
"The social cost of the closure is another lost local resource, especially for young people and the less active, as well as the healthy community."
An update on the leisure centre, ice rink, and Hub project is expected from Tesco and Lambeth Council at a meeting in the Hideaway, in Streatham High Road, on February 10.
