Two first-half goals from Alex Henderson saw Marsh Rangers reach the semi-final of the Middlesex County FA’s Premier Division Cup with a 2-1 victory over Hounslow Wanderers on Saturday.
Marsh took a 17th-minute lead when sloppy marking allowed Henderson to slot the ball past Wanderers keeper Greg Edghill.
Ten minutes later, it was 2-0 when Henderson netted with a neat chip.
Hounslow came back strongly in the second half with Spencer Mitchell having a shot saved by home keeper Adam Casey, who also superbly tupped Jas Sangha’s volley onto the post.
Wanderers did pull one back 15 minutes from time when Sanghu crossed for Wayne Harvey, whose shot was parried by Casey, but left sub Ren Sidhu with a simple tap-in.
However, Marsh held on to earn a semi-final clash with Hayes Gate.
Wanderers boss Vip Mair said: “The players know they let themselves down.
“The first half performance wasn’t of the standard we all expect from each other, especially when we are playing against another top five team from our division. I will be looking for a positive reaction in our match against Vallance on next week”.
