While we are all horrified by stories youth violence on the street, it appears some of the boroughs elder statesmen and women are setting a less than exemplary example themselves.
New figures show that “grey crime” – offences by pensioners – are keeping Wandsworth police busy, with over 65-year-olds involved in 76 incidents.
All took place in the borough between November 2008 and 2009, for crimes ranging from violence against the person to public order offences.
Most offences were committed by men, with 10 involving pensioners aged 76 to 85.
