Surrey Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an arson attack in Hersham last December.

The incident took place in Southdown Road between 5am and 6am on Saturday, December 12, when a parked blue Renault Laguna was set on fire.

A police spokesman said the car received significant damage to its front.

Detective Constable Dave Thomas, leading the investigation, said: “I hope the release of these images will lead to a member of the public coming forward with the vital information we need to help us bring those responsible to justice.

“We would encourage anyone who recognises the man in the images to contact us, as we believe he may be able to assist us with the investigation into this incident.

“This was a serious arson incident which caused extensive damage to the vehicle. Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the fire, but this incident could easily have had even more serious consequences and we need to track down the offenders as quickly as possible.”

Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them by calling 0845 1252222, quoting reference EL/09/10140, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
