A high level meeting has taken place to solve the problem of “illegal” late-night parties taking place in a West Norwood garage.

Police and council staff met on Friday to discuss problems associated with the noise neighbours say is coming from a garage in Norwood Road.

Residents recently handed a petition to Lambeth Council demanding it do more to combat the problem.

The council’s licensing, planning and antisocial behaviour representatives met with Lambeth police officers, and will now be speaking to the garage owners to tackle the issue.

Thurlow Park ward councillor Clare Whelan, who called the meeting, said: “Local residents should be able to sleep and enjoy their homes in peace.”

The garage owners were unavailable for comment.
