A charity has claimed its new service is making a big difference for dozens of Parkinson’s disease sufferers in Merton.

A spokesman for the Parkinson’s Disease Society said last year 90 of the 1,500 Londoners who contacted its new information and support workers, who provide help understanding the health and benefits systems, live in Merton or neighbouring Sutton.

The charity said its service, which also helps people join support groups and find information about the condition, helped people in the capital claim £1.5m in benefits last year.
