The Cobham-based London Bus Preservation Trust has encouraged people to become members and help with its move later this year to Brooklands Museum.
More than 100 new people became members last year, meaning it now has about 750 supporters for the first time in its history.
Many members take an active role in the restoration and maintenance of the trust’s 40-strong London Transport bus fleet, while others perform tasks such as archiving the many thousands of artefacts and driving and conducting the buses during events.
Steve Edmonds, the trust’s membership trustee, said: “With the planned move to Brooklands taking place later this year, the volunteers’ roles will assume a new significance.
“Our new public-facing responsibilities will make heavy demands on our existing core of active members, and we hope that the prospect of working within the historic atmosphere of the Brooklands Museum will attract an influx of enthusiasts keen to be involved in one of the most exciting heritage-bus developments for many years.”
