From Community Correspondent Christine Wicks: Members of the 1st Worcester Park and Old Malden Rainbows visited the studios of Radio Jackie last week. As well as being interviewed, they were successful in getting the jingle they had made celebrating the centenary of Guiding played live on air. This jingle was produced as one of their 100 challenges for the Adventure 100 badge and shows just how relevant Guiding is today when at their young age they can claim to be radio stars!
Hattie Bartle, Rainbow leader said ‘The girls went strangely quiet once they were in the studio – quite a contrast to the noise they were making outside - I think they were all a bit star struck - but they clearly enjoyed seeing where the radio comes from and when Mick Brown played our “Centenary Jingle” that was the icing on the cake.’ The words of the jingle are sung to the tune of ‘I can sing a rainbow’ as follows: Rainbows, Guides and Brownies too, Guiding is 100 this year, Come and have some fun, Join in everyone, Be a part of what we do.
Rainbows are the youngest section of Guiding for 5 to 7 year olds. For further information about Rainbows or Guiding, please phone 0800 1 69 59 01 or go to www.girlguiding.org.uk
