Leading insurance firm Zurich will be moving its south London office from Sutton to Croydon to make use of the borough’s bustling transport links.
More than 140 staff will be relocated from the current office in Sutton High Street as part of the move later this year.
A spokesman for the firm said: “As a location, Croydon will deliver the least disruption for our 140 employees, while providing us with the advantage of being within a vibrant insurance market.
“Croydon has excellent transport links to the whole of the south, which will allow us gain more access to our key broker partners who can visit our new environment, further cementing existing relationships and forging new ones.”
He added no jobs would be lost under the shift, which was described as a “purely office move”.
The company is still in discussions about the location of the new site.
A spokesperson from Croydon Economic Development Company, which works with firms to boost the borough’s role as an economic centre for London, said the relocation of Zurich “can only be good news for Croydon”.
He said: “Clearly they have recognised that Croydon has superb transport links and that our unrivalled connectivity will make doing business far easier.
“We're looking forward to more companies relocating here as we move forward out of recession.”
Zurich boasts offices throughout the globe, serving 60,000 customers in more than 170 countries.
