Kingston is bracing itself for yet more travel disruption, after reports of further snow and freezing weather expected later this week.
The Met Office is predicting a heavy snow shower in the south-west London area on Thursday, with temperatures falling below freezing.
The freezing conditions are expected to last into the weekend and further snow is expected on Friday.
A spokesman for Kingston Council said it was not immediately concerned with this week’s weather report and said there was currently no issue with its gritting supply.
The council, however, is no longer in control of ordering its own supplies, with central Government still regulating the flow of grit to local authorities.
A Met Office weather warning for Thursday, February 11, said: “Snow showers may become frequent, heavy and prolonged at times, leading to accumulations of 5 to 10 cm in some areas, with 15 cm possible locally over high ground. Some drifting is also possible.”
