A football team which coaches youngsters in Wandsworth Common has convinced Wandsworth Council to provide storage space for its equipment.
Broomwood Football Club, with the help of volunteers, coaches 300 children in Wandsworth Common at the weekend.
It said it had been walking goalposts and equipment “20 minutes” from a garage, after the council reclaimed a garage it was using in Mayfield Road.
It urged the council to find more suitable storage, which it did last week.
A council spokesman said: “There is a high demand for parking in Mayford Road and local residents have been on waiting lists for these garages for some time. Until very recently the council was unaware that the club was subletting a garage as an equipment store.
“We found them an alternative store on a nearby estate although this did present some difficulty in accessing the pitches. We then identified another garage in Darley Road which was closer to the Common than the original location and is not subject to a waiting list.
“We’re pleased that this matter has now been resolved – the club do a great job with local youngsters.”
