Police are hunting a thug who assaulted a 61-year-old man during a botched burglary attempt.
The burglary happened shortly before 8pm on January 20, while the occupants were at home in Kingswood and the burglar gained entry to their house.
He was disturbed by the 61-year-old and a scuffle ensued. The man shoved him into the table and chairs and fled the house empty-handed.
Officers have now released an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the burglary.
The would-be burglar is described as possibly mixed-race, approximately 5ft 6’ tall, aged between 25-35, of slim athletic build, with dark eyes and a shaved head. He was wearing a black hooded top which had a white Nike logo, black jeans and black shoes.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Vicki Morris, said: “We have produced this e-fit in the hope someone will recognise this man and come forward with his name so we can arrest him.
“Kingswood is a small close-knit community and I know this incident has shocked those who live there but I would like to reassure residents we are doing all we can to bring this man to justice.
“I am appealing to the public to take a close look at this e-fit and if you think you know who it is please contact Surrey Police or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers. With your help we can identify this man and prevent him from striking again.”
Anyone with any information should contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
