Pupils from a Croydon school received a special flag from their Chinese counterparts to celebrate the passing of the Olympics from Beijing to London.
Former Olympic athlete Donna Fraser and Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks met with the children before unveiling two Olympic mosaics designed by the students at St Joseph’s College.
The school was awarded ‘Confucius Classroom’ status by the Chinese Government in December, and has been recognised as a centre of excellence for Mandarin teaching and Chinese culture.
About 500 students at the college are studying Mandarin.
