Lambeth's planning committee will decide tonight if an academy will be built on the site of a Tulse Hill school.
The council has proposed demolishing Fenstanton school in Christchurch Road, and replacing it with a primary, nursery and 1,100 pupil secondary school.
The proposal also involves the provision of a multi-use games area and a new footpath linking Christchurch Road and Abbots Park.
The plans have been recommended for approval by town hall officers, subject to conditions.
At previous meetings about the plans, angry parents with children at Fenstanton Primary, teachers, and residents of the St Martin’s estate held up signs stating “No Academy”.
Teachers feared building an academy next to Fenstanton would delay rebuilding the primary school and it losing playspace, while parents were concerned of the impact of the changes on their children.
Residents of the estate were concerned about loss of green space, the impact on the environment of a large academy, and increased traffic.
