People struggling during the economic downturn are invited to a special event next week, to get information about services to help beat the recession from agencies in Kingston.
The Kingston Recession Recovery Group, which includes the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, council, Kingston Voluntary Action and the chamber of commerce, will hold the event at the United Reform Church, Eden Street, from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, February 18.
There will be an emphasis on advice and information on employment, housing, benefits and debt, and people will be able to organise one-to-one appointments for a later date.
Lisa Gagliani, chief executive of Kingston Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is a coming together of all the interested parties who have services that can help people who for one reason or another are struggling. We know there are people who up to this time last year were sailing along nicely but are now really struggling.
“It will allow people who have never asked for help before to come in and grab some leaflets and ask for help if they need it.”
