A Carshalton woman celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday with a tea party and a traditional telegram from the Queen.
Evelyn Riley, who lives at Beeches House, a care home for those with learning difficulties, was born in east London on February 8, 1910.
One of 13 children, she went to St Lawrence’s School in Sutton.
Mrs Riley maintains an active lifestyle and was a member of Link Club community organisation, which she attended during the 1980s and 1990s.
Bridget Brook, owner and manager of the care home, said: “Evelyn is a wonderful woman who is still bright and alert. We had a lovely party on Monday with family and friends and a big cake.”
