More than 200 students and parents performed the traditional lion dance to usher in the Chinese year of the tiger on Saturday.
Pupils from the Nihao Mandarin Language School celebrated with Chinese song and dance including a Kung Fu Panda version of the Chinese zodiac called Kung Fu Tiger. The traditional and colourful Chinese costumes added to the spectacle and all the children received a “hong bao” – a symbol of good luck for the new year.
They also enjoyed a food festival featuring Chinese dishes from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, prepared by the parents and teachers.
