A cunning new crossing will allow Wimbledon’s horse riders to gallop further afield.

The pegasus crossing, one of only three in London, has extra buttons that horse riders can push without dismounting. It crosses the A3 to link Beverley Ride on Wimbledon Common with Robin Hood Gate in Richmond Park. It was installed by Transport for London (TfL) and unveiled last week.

The crossing was praised by former champion jockey Richard Dunwoody. He said: “Having spent my career in the saddle before venturing far afield as a pedestrian I commend TfL for this magnificent pegasus crossing over the A3.”
