Four students from Hinchley Wood School were attacked crossing Surbiton Golf Club yesterday afternoon.
The attack took place at Woodstock Lane South at about 3pm and left three boys with facial injuries. At least one was taken to Kingston Hospital.
No one from the school was available for comment, although students have been warned to avoid that route home.
Gill Whitelock, assistant secretary of Surbiton Golf Club, said: "I have been here 30 years and there's been nothing like that.
"We just got the report and I have had the police around this morning. I know the boy is in a bit of a state."
Jenny Best, owner of Old Barn stables, said: "As far as I am aware they were walking home and they got set upon on the golf course.
"I came back to find police cars in the yard and the dog handler was just leaving.
"One of the lads that got injured, his dad came and went in the ambulance and left his vehicle here."
Police said no arrests had yet been made.
