A 15 year old girl from Richmond had an article published in nationwide magazine Doctor Who Magazine.

She was extremely happy, as it was very unexpected news. “I am so surprised”, she said. “I entered the article into a competition, but I never expected them to even read it”. The stunned teenager was one of six runners up to have their articles published and beat thousands of other hopefuls. The teenager was thrilled to be a runner-up, but slightly disappointed that she missed out on first prize: “The winner got to meet the actor David Tennant and interview him! I am quite jealous, but still very happy that I am a runner- up!”

The subject of the article was “What does Doctor Who mean to you?” and the 15 year old fanatic wrote with ease. “I’m a huge fan of the programme- it isn’t just for kids. I love it!” The news came as a shock, as she was not told that she was a runner-up, but found out when she bought the latest issue. “I bought DWM and saw my name in print in the magazine. It was completely surreal”. After her success, the 15 year old hopes to pursue a career in journalism, which she was already considering. “I never thought I had a chance- I honestly believed that my writing was rubbish. Now I feel so much more confident in myself.”
