A murder inquiry was launched last night after a man was stabbed in Norwood.
Police were called to the Whitehorse Lane area at about 8.20pm yesterday evening where they found a severely injured man.
London Ambulance Service attended the scene but the man was declared dead at 9pm.
A post mortem will be held in due course.
The road was closed both ways between South Norwood Hill and Whitehorse Road.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at about 8.20pm with reports of an adult male suffering serious injuries.
"He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9pm. He had been fatally stabbed.
"We are trying to identify the victim so we can inform his next of kin."
