Sutton Schools Borough U11s had to work very hard to overcome a combative St Albans team, but once again came out with a win and yet another clean sheet in the league on Saturday.
Sutton were on the back foot from the start as St Albans had most of the early play but the Sutton defence proved equal to the task and snuffed out all the home team efforts. At the other end, after Tommy Hicks went close, Arjan Jeevan’s floated cross field ball found Zack Norman who finished calmly at the second attempt.
In the second half, Sutton had more of the game but were never really able to establish a pattern of play against a spoiling opposition and it wasn’t until the final minute that Alex Bannister put the result of the game beyond doubt with a clinical finish.
South West Trains player of the match with a superbly commanding display in defence was skipper Criag McGee. Sutton are at home to Chiltern this Saturday in the Southern League (Mill Lane 10.30) Sutton: Feeley (Brookfield), McGee -Capt., Healy (St. Cecilia’s), Hicks (Robin Hood), Vezzu (The Avenue), Steele, Morcombe (Bandon Hill), Jeevan, Scantlebury (High View), Bannister (Benhilton), Norman (St. Mary’s), Ilic (Cheam Common).
