A burglar has stolen jewellery from a house in Chipstead after telling scared residents he had a weapon.

On January 20 at 8.50pm, a man entered a house in Coulsdon Lane and demanded money and jewellery from the occupants, saying he had a weapon in his coat pocket.

He took two wrist watches worth thousands of pounds from the house.

One of the wrist watches was a gents, Swiss International Watch Company, Portofino automatic, stainless steel case, white face with black leather strap, worth £2,200.

The other, a lady’s Cartier 21 Chronoscaph wrist watch, steel case, bezel engraved with roman numerals, black dial with the Cartier double C motif with a black and rubber strap, worth £2,825.

The man is described as white, in his mid 20s to early 30s, of slim build with a closely-shaven head with black stubble and unshaven face.

He spoke with a south London accent and was wearing a black bomber-style jacket with black jeans or trousers and black boots.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable, Vicki Morris said: “I am hoping with the release of these pictures of the watches that someone in the community will come forward with information.

“The watches are distinctive and if you have been offered either item maybe as a Valentine’s gift, or you may have seen them on an auction site or auction house. Or you may recognise the suspect from the E-fit and description. Please come forward with your information, however insignificant you may think it is.

“I would like reiterate this is a disturbing offence and the victims were extremely shaken by the whole experience. Your help could help bring this suspect to justice."

Anyone with information should contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
