Hounslow Wanderers 1 Stedfast Utd 2
Matthew Woods scored twice as Division One Stedfast knocked Hounslow out of the Middlesex County Football League Senior Open Cup in the third round, writes Vip Mair.
The visitors had already knocked out Premier Division leaders Hayes Gate.
Wanderers keeper Greg Edghill kept Stedfast and, in particular, Woods at bay in the first half with some unbelievable saves.
The visitors played with a sense of urgency, while Hounslow lacked their usual passion.
The second half began with the purple haze getting more into the game and finally calling the Stedfast keeper into action.
On 57 minutes, Woods cut into the area and hit a low shot into the back of the net to make it 1-0. Wanderers' response was almost instant, with Wayne Harvey heading home three minutes later to equalise.
With 15 minutes remaining, an almost identical run and shot from Woods made it 2-1 to the first division team.
Harvey had a late header kicked off the line and Stedfast advanced into the next round.
Man of the match: Greg Edghill
