A £400,000 revamp of Old Malden and Worcester Park has been announced in a joint initiative between Sutton and Kingston councils.

Sutton Council has launched a public consultation of plans to redevelop the area around Worcester Park station and Green Lane, asking what improvements people would like to see.

Councillor Colin Hall, executive member for environment for Sutton Council, said: “This is a great opportunity for Worcester Park residents to have a real influence in improving their local area.

“It’s really important that residents tell us what they want to see and I urge those living nearby to take part in the consultation.”

The proposed changes include controlling the speed and number of cars that are allowed down certain roads, particularly Green Lane, Longfellow Road, Lincoln Road and Central Road.

The project, which hints at providing “more pedestrian crossings, improved lighting and more street trees” is funded by Transport for London under its Streets for People scheme but must be approved by Sutton Council.

The consultation lasts until March 12 and documents can be seen on the council’s website at sutton.gov.uk/trafficconsultations.
