A grieving daughter is looking for her Jack Russell who ran away after being attacked by an Alsatian on Shirley Hills.
Heidi Sanderson, 29, was walking five-year-old Twiggy, who used to belong to her deceased father, and her other dog Spider at about 3pm on Friday when she was attacked.
She said: “The dogs were off their leads and just trotting ahead.
“Then I heard this yelping and I ran around the corner and saw two huge Alsatians, one of them had Twiggy around the neck.
“The woman with them was holding onto the collar of one of the dogs.
“My fiance Alex, ran to grab hold of the other dog and it dropped Twiggy.
“She was just standing there trembling. Then the dog got out of Alex’s grasp and she bolted.”Miss Sanderson and her fiance Alex Alsop ran after Twiggy but she had disappeared. They have been searching frantically for her for hours and put posters up in the area but have not managed to find her.
She said: “Twiggy used to belong to my Dad. He died unexpectedly last year in Ireland and we promised to look after her.
“It is near enough a year to the day he died which makes it doubly upsetting.
“She means the world to us and we are desperate to get her back.”
