There big, there mean, there crime driven, but did you know that volunteering their time to others has become part of a cool new style many young adults have taken part in. Due to so many young students dedicating there time to Duke of Edinburgh, many have taken on volunteering as their duty to the public. Siobhan Firmin from Gumley House Convent School dedicated her time to the Hampton open air pool, which are an educational charity. She said that the experience was priceless, she experienced new aspects of working life, and she enjoyed herself immensely despite the constant cleaning of dirty tables.
So why is volunteering becoming more popular within communities? How can others get involved?
Volunteering can be carried out in lots of establishments, nursing homes, community centres and hospitals offer a wide range of options for people of any age. The increasing need for experience in different areas of work make volunteering a perfect way for the public to get involved in their community and find out about different careers options.
Anyone anywhere can get involved in volunteering, to find out more about volunteering in your area you can visit your local volunteer centre, search the internet for companies that need volunteers and finally you can ask local schools and your community centre.
It doesn’t matter when, it doesn’t matter where, volunteering is a perfect way to give something back to the community while gaining something as well.
