It’s a known fact that children love pretending they are adults, some parents even say that their children are growing up too fast, but is it ever too early to start college? Marlborough School located in Isleworth has introduced a new system which allows children to take part in different courses and believe this helps them to get creative whilst learning valuable life skills.

The programme is offered to junior children between the ages of seven to twelve. Firstly, at the end of the summer term the children are given a list of courses, five of which they choose and then the teachers allocate them to one of their chosen courses. Marlborough offers courses in areas such as, media studies, cognitive thinking, technology studies, environmental studies and physical development.

The college courses last for six weeks and take place on Monday afternoons. After they have finished their course they receive a certificate and during their next term begin a new course. The children thoroughly enjoy the time out and like experiencing new activities, one of the classes, the city jam are creating a dance to The Men In Black which they will perform to the school at the end of the six weeks.

Overall it is never too early to start college as this builds on personal profile. The juniors of Marlborough show such enthusiasm for their college courses and believe that every school should have this amazing opportunity.
