Speeding drivers were caught red handed by police in a 30 minute targetted operation.
Eighteen motorists were stopped by patrol in Brighton Road, Belmont, on Friday.
Belmont Safer Neighbourhoods Sergeant Brendan McWilliams and PC John Corr stopped and spoke to all motorists who were driving over 35mph - the fastest being 41mph.
PC Corr said the team only dished out verbal warnings during the operation, but drivers would be fined where appropriate.
He said: “All the drivers we stopped were quite appreciative of our actions, thought we were doing a good job and they told us they hadn't actually been aware that they were going the speed they were.
“Future operations are planned and SNT officers will be issuing £80 Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate.”
