Waking up as a fully fledged 16 year old the worlds a scary place. New responsibilities, amazing opportunities, excessive workloads and more exams than you can shake a stick at, add to this the untimely pressure to secure your first Saturday job and the seemingly fun life of a teenager becomes more stressful than that of the average 40 year old. Search feverishly through any newspaper job section, high street or internet website and it is obvious that the number of companies willing to hire inexperienced teenager is limited.
Many companies need reassurance that their employee will be reliable, punctual and intelligent but how is a 16 year old capable of showing their intelligence. With little or no exam results received until August teenagers are left unable to show their brilliance. Unfortunately with the increasing numbers of unemployed people in Great Britain, there is much more competition. Often more experienced people with many references are trying for the same jobs as a 16 year old and for companies there is little competition. Thus teenagers find themselves jobless and helplessly reliant upon their long term suffering parents much to the dismay of themselves and their family.
In the future teenagers may find it increasingly difficult to secure that illusive first job and so companies will need to become more open minded and willing to open their doors.
